At the Roehampton Church School, we identify some children as Gifted or Talented. This term is used to describe children who have the potential to develop significantly beyond what is expected for their age.
Gifted refers to a child who has abilities in one or more academic subjects such as English or Maths.
Talented refers to a child who has skills in a practical area such as music, art or sport.
The Gifted and Talented register is updated regularly by using attainment and discussions with staff and parents. Where possible, Gifted children are supported in groups outside the class, particularly in Years 2 and Years 6. Class teachers ensure all Gifted and Talented pupils are catered for in class by differentiating their work and ensuring there is a challenge for all. Parents are informed if opportunities arise to support Gifted and Talented pupils from outside agencies.
