Teaching RE

At RCS RE is taught on a weekly basis in every class through the Scheme of Work provided by the Southwark Diocesan Board. The majority of the units of work are based on the Christian faith, but the five other main world faiths (Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, and Buddhism) are also covered. Please see the RE curriculum map for further details of the units of work taught and which year groups they are taught in.

RE written work is recorded at the back of the children’s learning journals. Teachers use green pen response questions in their marking of RE using higher order questioning to further thinking and understanding.

Where formal recording is not appropriate, class scrapbooks are used to display the learning taking place for a unit. Photographs, art work and scribed comments are amongst some methods of recording learning taking place in the scrap books. Please click ‘here‘ to view the RE curriculum.
